Vacation Bible School Theme of Love
My pastor gave a sermon this past weekend on love and he defined love as God. 1 John 4:8 (NIV) states “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love”. We as Christians should love everyone as God loves us – unconditionally. God’s love surpasses the human definition of love that it is sometimes hard for us to understand. Understanding can start at an early age, which made me think of children and Vacation Bible School.
The Parable of the Good Samaritan is one of many great examples in scripture of God’s love. This parable talks about how we should set aside our prejudice and show love as well as compassion for others. Also, we should understand that our neighbor is anyone we encounter and, we are to love all of mankind as Jesus has taught us. God is love and he created us to have a loving relationship with Him. Through this loving relationship with Him we understand the definition of love.

Summer is here and as parents, we are looking for fun, educational summer programs for our children. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an awesome way to educate our children about God. Many Vacation Bible Schools select a theme for the week and a great theme would be on God’s love. God’s love is unconditional, perfect, as well as all-encompassing, pure, lasting, inspiring and I could go on and on. God’s love will always reach us no matter where we are on our journey. What a great lesson for our children.
Our children will be busy the week of Vacation Bible School (VBS)
The children will be enjoying fun-filled activities centered on the theme of love such as prayer, arts and crafts, puppet shows, songs, bible stories and learning scripture. They will come home each day excited to share with you the lessons they learned about God and love. There are passages in the bible that give us God’s definition of love. One well-known verse is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
